I ALWAYS GO PAST MY DUE DATE ...

... so, imagine my surprise when baby Peanut actually showed up on time!!!! Yes, Peanut arrived on June 17 at 2:46 a.m.

I guess that as far as labors go, it was pretty easy. However, as far as my labors go, it was the longest (about 7 hours from start to finish) and the hardest (even though I only pushed for three minutes, Peanut came out face up).

It's funny how each labor is different. I'll go into the first two labors some other time, but this is the first labor that actually had me screaming for the last ten minutes. The doctor broke my water, and that was the end of my peaceful, quiet, breathing-through-the-contractions technique. After two of those broken water contractions, I pushed the nurse's call button to let them know I needed to push, but all that came out was screaming. Here is a transcript of that short conversation:

Me: (push call button)

Nurse: Can I help you?

Me: (loud screaming)

Nurse: (Pause) Um, can I help you?

Me: (loud screaming)

At that point, the birthing entourage raced into the room and the party got started.

Anyway, here is a picture of Peanut with her adoring (and sometimes insanely jealous) big sisters:

IN THE DAILIES ...

As you know, I'm a grumpy pregnant lady. But, this post made me laugh today until I cried. Thanks, Tanya!!!!

STILL PREGNANT ... HOW ABOUT MY HEAD?

I'm at that point in pregnancy: the point where I'm grumpy all the time, I eat lots of chocolate, and I shut myself in the house because I'm tired of leaving the house when I'm so huge. I'm not a very pleasant pregnant lady, and I get extremely impatient by the end.

So, since I'm a self-imposed hermit right now, I got a new belly picture. Tell me the truth, does my head look pregnant?

Hopefully, I'll be posting pictures of Peanut out of the womb soon. I'll try to keep blogging in spite of my general grumpiness.
